An abomination called the "Trumpy Bear" had been crafted and was being sold online.
It had orange-tinged fur, mostly, exactly for a thatch of blonde atop the head.
The eyes were an unsettling, cold, blue color reserved for Alaskan malamutes.
And the toy had a red tie around its neck.
My first thought had been: "He must think he's so worthy of praise and adoration that he should have a huggable toy created like was done for a former president a century ago."
Well, let me assure all: Donald John Trump is no Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., nor will he ever be.
The latter was a war hero, much beloved for having overcome a sickly childhood to become a brave, intelligent, man who was well-versed in science, philosophy, and logistics.
I daresay that no one would use any of those words to describe the man who had been our 45th President.
Nonetheless, he believes that children will find his image lovable and flock to own their very own toy made in his image.
Perhaps he believes his followers will want to purchase the toys as Christmas gifts for their sons and daughters, their nieces and nephews, their grandchildren, their wives and girlfriends and anyone in their lives who share their regard of the very old man who would be king.
Ack.
Now, a new and improved toy has been designed and the info'mercials promoting it have been running for a few weeks now.
Aimed directly at the MAGA-believers, this one has a patriotic tie and even a patriotic cape that unfurls from the back of the neck of the toy.
I wonder who gets the money?

The latest crass 'mercialization of the Trump realm is in the field of money.
A special $2 bill has been designed - presumably by the Federal Treasury for it to be legal tender - to commemorate his split two terms as President.
That's to try to link his name with that of another famous man with whom he has no resemblance: President Franklin Roosevelt.
Clutching at straws for fame, that 78-year-old man is.
He cannot even go into history as the oldest man elected to the Presidency, as President Joe Biden was also 78 when he was elected four years ago.
