spock and simon at the jea

I was only able to catch two of the films at this year's Jewish Film Festival, but what good ones they were!
On Thursday, I even dined at the JEA: dinner was salmon and veggies, and I was treated to plenty of both. I was fortunate to sit with Penny and Lonnie, fellow Lucas ushers - that was very nice! Jim Reed came in for dinner and the movie, too.
That was no surprise, though.
"For The Love of Spock" would be sure to draw in the man behind Shatnerfest, as well as tribute films for Leonard Nimoy on several occasions.
I was glad to share this tonight with Jim. The movie was a loving tale of a son for his mostly-absent father, for a man who was also striving for that unreachable star and impossible dream.
I do hope more fathers will see themselves in such films.
I do hope more fathers will choose to spend more time with their children.
Children need time with their moms and dads, not more material stuff.

Tonight was the finale of the JFF at the JEA and las tres amigas were right there -
especially for the dessert reception!
The film was perfect: "Simon Sagt 'Auf Wiedersehen' zu seiner Vorhaut", a coming-of-age movie about a nerdy white kid in the suburbs, trying to get a girl's attention. What a hoot!
Oh, but wait - is your German a bit rusty?
Did you not get the joke?
Fret not, dearie... here's the translation:
"Simon Says Goodbye To His Foreskin" -
super funny!
We all laughed and laughed!
Good times!
