banana triple-homer with extra bananas!

What craziness is going on here?
For the second time this week, the games have been nearly mirror images, like on some kind of carnival funhouse baseball diamond.
Just for giggles, I had checked just now about last night's game.
Now, I am in awe of another instance of crazy karma.
For that game, up in Macon, the Savannah Bananas had been scoreless - scoreless - for eight innings. Meanwhile, the Bacon had been bringing it home (a little joke, y'all!), amassing six runs in the first two innings, then a lucky number seven in the fifth. The game had all the earmarks of a shut-out for the home team.
Then, they changed pitchers.
The Bananas tried to take full advantage of the lack of talent on the mound in the ninth inning, but when the dust had cleared, only four runs had been scored.
Not quite enough.
I'm sure the Macon fans were holding their breath at the end there.

Tonight, the two teams again faced each other, but this time on Savannah's turf.
The Bananas may finally be figuring out the importance of having a good pitching staff.
Over the course of the night, they scored in four innings, making for a fun night for the fans...
and they never once allowed the bases to be filled with Bacon.
Indeed, the visiting team didn't score a single run.
That's some good pitching for our home team!
Not that the Macon pitchers - their absolutely amazing third baseman, Daniel Harris - didn't put up a fight. They most assuredly did not go gentle into that good night.
However, it's hard to maintain a defense when the ball is sailing out of the park.
It's even more difficult when that one ball brings home two men at a time.
The Bananas pulled that rabbit out of the hat three times - THREE TIMES!!!
Not that I didn't love it, because I did!
I've been waiting all season for a home run at Grayson Stadium...
tonight, I was treated to an unprecedented three!!!

The first home run
was in the third inning,
swatted over left center
by All-Star Gabe Howell.
The man there by the plate
is Kyler Marquis, batted in
by that same ball.
They were the first two at bat
in that inning; the next
three Bananas were outs.
The fourth inning, the Bacon's
opener was still going strong,
getting out two Bananas.
The third man, All-Star Ethan
Baucom, got on base...
then came home with Austin
Thompson on that Banana's
left-field home run!
Preston Sparks didn't allow
that to happen in the fifth
inning, his final on the mound.
Macon's pitcher change for the
sixth must have left Tristan
Thomas feeling like the opener
had in the third inning.
The third home run was swatted over left center, this time by Logan Foster, seen here running in to join is Mason Miller, batted in by that same ball.
They were the last two Bananas to cross home plate and Mason was the only one to cross twice, scoring the only run in the second inning.

Honestly, both teams had solid pitching going on tonight, all night long.
Each had led off with their All-Stars: Dustin Saenz for Savannah, Preston Sparks for Macon.
Both had played for South All-Stars on the second day of the Showdown.
Tonight's truly was a marvelous game of baseball at its best!

What else brought me delight
on this beautiful night?
When the seventh inning came
calling, the home team had
seven runs.
Seven in the seventh -
that made me think of that
appointment time that Bruce
had made with God Almighty
in that movie I adore!
And what did we have before
the game even started?
It was Bacon, my dears,
crisping in the glare of
that hot summer sun!
Hahahaha hahaha!
(smile)
This one I just barely had time to snap after the thought of it popped into my head.
That's pitcher Dalton Ross, the man in the cover story for this latest program, winding up...
to toss a T-shirt into the crowd!
It was as if he was on the mound!
Very nice!
He was grinning the whole time!
The Bananas' Man-Nanas were grinning all the time, too!
As the world's only Dad-Bod Cheerleading Squad, they're out
to have a good time and make sure everyone else does, too.
Thanks, guys!
(I see you, Bruce!)
Those Banana-Nanas had that same goal of bringing delight to the masses in the stands!
They treated us to a new song-and-dance routine tonight, complete with gigantic yellow bats!
The tune was Trace Adkins' "Swing", celebrating its tenth year of gracing the music waves -
yeehaw, y'all!
Excellent choice!
Mister Willie made an excellent choice tonight, also!
At our last game, he had wondered how the nachos were.
Tonight, after I reminded him, he made that his dinner order.
Then, along time for the seventh inning, he ordered it again!
That really hit the spot for him!
(smile)
As for me, as I told Margie in my interview, I'll take a hot dog.
