juxtapositions on a beach, continued

What a fabulous clashing of shapes! The vertical lines of the Sky Wheel juxtaposed against the swirling curves of the clouds above! Then, to have the horizontally-aligned triangles of canopies and the sweet arch and bell of the lamp post - wow!

Sandy and I had just passed all of that
and were on the Boardwalk proper,
heading toward the northern pier,
when I turned back and snapped this photo.
Now, the sleek curves of the Sky Wheel were offset
by the feathery crown and rough trunk of the palm,
as well as the fluffy clouds above.
Right place, right time.
(smile)

Isn't this a work of art?
The mirrored glass windows
of the tall man-made structure
are crisply reflecting the lovely
God-given cloud-speckled blue sky.
Definitely right place, right time.

This was a very odd sight,
spotted by Sandy as we strolled nearby.
We both had to take a photo of the
prickly pear cactus nestled at the foot
of this South Carolina emblem.
We both wondered how it came to be there -
a deliberate planting of the desert flora
by the tropical beach tree?
Who knows?

What a blue, blue, sky stretching upward from the blue, blue sea!
Somehow, the line of flags fluttering along the Boardwalk accentuated the infinite feeling inspired by the blue above and the blue below.
Why is the South Carolina flag at half-mast?
That is unknown to us and will remain so, as the status is absent on the website.
Maybe we will find out later.
Meanwhile, my jacket is off and the weather has warmed quite nicely -
happy, happy, joy, joy!
Time to explore some more!
