hope in the midst of doubt

This is the view that greeted me
this morning
when I drew back the drapes.
My Japanese magnolia
had fully embraced
the warmth from late last week
and now
has budding blooms everywhere.
Hope.
Even with the deep fog all around,
both outside my house
and within my mind,
the pink blossoms forecast
a brighter tomorrow.
