dancing around the world!

My thanks to the Lucas Theatre for continuing to allow me to be a volunteer!
Tonight, One Spirit Dance Academy had their spring recital, granting me more tap, ballet, hip hop, modern, and jazz dances! Hooray!
I had never heard of this academy before. Here's the thing which sets it apart: it's a faith-based school of dance and they don't believe in competitions. They teach dance for the body while also feeding the soul. How novel!

Titled "One Spirit Takes A Vacation", the story
revolves around the travels of four friends -
all grown men!!! - to eight different countries
to experience dance around the world.
That was certainly a different approach!
(Unintended pun by me...
or was it?
As Carolyn would say, "Only The Shadow knows!")

Next thing you know, they're aboard the plane
and headed across the Atlantic Ocean!
The flight crew gives them quite a warm welcome
and are devoted to making sure they are all comfy
before the long flight.
First stop: Ireland, where tap-dancing lasses in green
are followed by an Irish jig for all!

Then their tour guide takes them to merry old England - where they try to make the Buckingham Palace guards crack a grin, quite unsuccessfully.
(smile)
Across the English Channel and on to gay Paree for those ladies of the Moulin Rouge - ooh la la, mes chers petits! Veux-tu danser avec moi? Merci!
Where to go before intermission calls a halt? Well Samuel L. Jackson wanted to see the flamenco dancers, so he went to Spain. If he thought that was a good plan, then so did they! And so they went! And those dancers were muy fantastica - olé!
Whew! Everybody take ten!

And on the mark of ten minutes, the travelers were
back on their journey, starting with Russia.
Vodka toasts all around while nine boys did the classic Cossack style of dancing.
(Yes, that's what I said: nine boys.
That's the most I've seen!
This academy must be doing something right if they can encourage so many boys to dance!)

After Russia, their route took them to the home of the cherry blossoms, Japan, with sake and tea while they enjoyed the geishas.
Their next stop may have been my favorite: India! It was all I could do to not join them in the happy Bollywood dancing!
So, they had traveled from North America to Europe, then to Asia... time to head to Africa! Now, which country would they visit with so many choices?
Oh, don't be silly! They went to Wakanda, of course! It's the hot new place to go, especially with those spear-wielding protectors of the land! To not watch them dance would be like going to Hawaii and not attending a luau - that would be ludicrous!
Thanks for taking me along, y'all!
