Last night, I had a movie and dinner with my three g'friends.
Then, tonight, I had dinner and a movie with them.
And we'll be getting together again on Monday for another movie!
Marvelous!!!
So, how about Friday night's events?
Well, we'd gone downtown to view Tomasz' final Cinema Savannah offering.
What a three-act bit of looniness "Triangle of Sadness" was!
It's as if the writer-director couldn't commit to a story line and Tomasz couldn't tell the emperor was butt naked and waving his junk at us.
In the first act, we have the life of two models, one of which fancies herself an 'influencer'.
In the second act, the 'influencer' has contrived to get the couple passage, gratis, on a swanky yacht with a bunch of uber-rich folks.
In the third act, the yacht has crashed during a storm and a double handful of survivors have washed up on an island... and the room cleaner on the yacht is queen, as she is the only one who has any survival skills.
We went back to Donato's Pizza again.
This time I tried the Italian Chef Salad - que bella!
Here's the thing: this place is a favorite for them, as they claim it's inexpensive.
I have not found that to be true.
At least all four of our orders came out together this time!
And, like I said, the salad was excellent and quite large!
Ah, a successful venture!
After the movie, when we had returned to Barbara's car, I revealed the presents I'd snuck in under my wrap.
That's Barbara's on the right, with the tall 'gnome for the holidays' ZZ-Top style fellows wrapped vertically.
(smile!)
Sandy's is on the left, wrapped with just one row of gnomes, while Carolyn's was on the diagonal.
Inside each were the dark chocolate Mint Penguins from Miyah's school fundraiser.
Aren't they so cute?!
And that wrapping paper came from that money-raising - and bounce house time procuring - event.
All of it very cute!!!
They've been meeting there since the pandemic began.
It's been stepped up since Carolyn moved in after her A/C broke during the summer.
Before that, the parties invited would bring items for a potluck meal.
Not any more, as Carolyn cooks!
She'd gone all out, making turkey, dressing with gravy, french bean casserole, squash casserole, baby carrots, and whole-berry cranberry sauce.
Well worth the $5 price!
And we had angelfood cake, with cranberry-walnut topping - sweet and very tart!
After we had dinner - and the SEC Championship football game - say what??? - was over, it was time for a movie.
"Father Goose", with a rough-and-tumble looking Cary Grant in charge of a nanny and 7 girls that he rescued during wartime, was charming and funny!
It was definitely in the same style as "The African Queen" and quite enjoyable!
Then, as the night was still fairly young, they pulled up "Michael Buble's Christmas In The City" and I can see now why he is such a popular singer!
I didn't stay for SNL, though.
As I told them, I was fading fast and still had to drive home from Coffee Bluff.
Well worth the night drive, especially with so little traffic and so many street lights.
(smile!)
Looking forward to their company again on Monday!
