bananas with fiReWOrKs and mister willie!

Yep!
You heard me right!
Willie Smith, Jr.,
stayed for the fiReWOrKs show!
He did that for me,
knowing how much I enjoy them,
showing his love for me
and appreciation for rides home.

But let's back it on up to the
start of the game, shall we?
The Banana Band had brought
their entire contingent this time,
even all four tubas!!!
They had first played
out in left field,
then moved in closer for
"The Star Spangled Banner".

At 7 PM sharp, the band struck up
the national anthem,
with our Savannah Bananas standing
at attention on the playing field,
with lots of kids who read summer books
right there by their side,
and the flag waving in the breeze.
Fabulous, n'est-ce pas?

What antics did this circus -
ahem... baseball game -
have to offer this night?
Well, there was the passing
of the inflated monkey toys
through the stands!
The two monkeys almost knocked
off Willie's hat - twice!
Hahahaha haha!

The race of the inflatable ponies
took place down on the field,
so it was less disruptive.
Fine with him!
This time, there were five contestants,
the most I'd ever seen.
What a photo finish it was!

I almost got hit by a flying banana!
Those infield-raking Banana Boys,
after doing their dance - er, job -
lobbed foam bananas
into the stands!
The birthday boy -
Cwynn, 8 years old -
grabbed it for his own
after I swatted it
under the seats!
Hooray! A birthday banana!

Such a pitcher's duel we had
between our boys and the
Gastonia Grizzlies!
No score until the 4th inning -
and that was by the 'visitors'.
Our men in yellow didn't get
a run until the 7th inning.
Then, they exploded in the 8th,
scoring five runs!!!!!

Top of the ninth saw
Ring Dude Drew atop our dugout,
the French maid dancing
above the Grizzlies,
and the Banana Band cheering
and playing behind the box seats!
Woohoo!
We won, of course, 6 to 2!

(And all we had to do
was sit there... Hahahaha!)
Rosalind had come up to see what our plans were:
would we be staying for the celebratory festivities?
Willie assured her that we would.
Hooray!
He was really feeling his oats,
jiggling his blue eyes -
and making me laugh! -
during this photo with her!
Good times!
(smile)
