special tuesday with boo

Honestly, I do not know why I think of Barbara as Boo, but never call her that in person.
Maybe, one day, I will... and will probably shock her by using that family nickname!
(smile)

Tonight, though, was a celebration of her 65th birthday.
No 'Tina Tuesday' with Kevin this time!
Sure, he was invited to come along... but he abstained.
His loss!
Not only was there a movie and dinner, but there was also dANciNg!
The Regal had a Fathom Event with our name all over it:
"Carole King: Tapestry"!
The concert had been filmed last year, when she performed in Hyde Park, London...
it was as if we were there with the thousands of other fans,
swaying to the music and mouthing the words that we knew by heart.
For this special concert, she performed every song on the album, in order.
At the end of the last song on the first side of the LP, the screen on stage even showed the vinyl disc and flipped it over!!!
As I am fond of saying, I played this album as a teenager until I wore out the grooves.
That's fairly close to true!

As I watched the then-74-years-old woman performing enthusiastically, I kept flashing back to February of 2004. That was the first - and only - time I ever saw her sing live, and that was up close and personal at the Sentient Bean.
Did my ex remember that night, too?
Of course he did!
"Oh, wow. I still remember bleeding on the ground when CNN got the shot at the Sentient Bean. I was standing right behind her as she was stumping for John Kerry."
Funny! I remember her being there to support Max Cleland.

I also remember dancing on the sidewalk, in the cold outside, because there was no room in the small coffee shop.
I also remember her acknowledging me and her other fans by turning around frequently on the stage to sing toward us, just beyond the windows.
I also remember the thrill of actually making physical contact after the concert that night, shaking the diminutive hand of this musical giant in my life.
Wow.

Tonight, we purposely sat near the back of the cinema.
We wanted to be able to get up and dANcE and feel the Earth move under our feet!!!
Barbara and I did, too!
Jackie and Sandy and Kal, and Boo's beach friends Lacie and Michael, remained seated the entire time.
How could they stand to not get up???
I only stayed seated for about three songs, then I was up, dANciNg to "Beautiful", in the empty top row behind us!
Barbara joined me four songs later, for "Where You Lead" - what a funny coincidence!
(smile)

After the concert movie, las tres amigas went to Chili's for some dinner.
Kal came along, of course - he was Barbara's driver for the evening!
Such fun we had...
such sweet dreams we will have tonight...
and I came home with Boo's chips for lunch!

i thank You, God, for these shared good times!
