Her birthday was actually Saturday.
I held off with sending out her package, though.
All the Savannah mail gets sorted down in Jacksonville and I didn't want to chance that Hurricane Ian would disrupt the package from its trip to Alabama.
I did call her yesterday and we talked for almost an hour, which is a long time for either of us to be tied to a phone.
(smile!)
Anyway, I've just returned from posting the package at last!
I was on my way southside, to meet with Barbara and Carolyn for a rare - for them, anyway - matinee movie.
(We saw "Bros", which was much fun!
It's a gay movie, and you know what that means: soft porn for straight chicks!
So very many naked, or near 'nuff in the buff, men!
What a smorgasbord!)
My timing at the post office?
Perfect!
There were two people in front of me when I arrived.
By the time I finished, there were at least ten people behind me.
Whoa!
Well, she already knew I would be sending her more dvds of "The Carol Burnett Show", as I told her I'd found them in the "gift closet" earlier.
I wrapped seven of those up, though, as a present.
But I had not said a word about the headliner!
"Aunt Bee's Mayberry Cookbook"!!!
It's chock full of pictures from "The Andy Griffith Show" and cute stories, too!
I know, I can hear you saying it right now: Bonnie doesn't cook.
Well, she has been doing so, what with the pandemic slowing them down from trips out to eat.
I guess if Merritt is cooking sometimes, then she has to take a turn, too.
It's a pretty safe bet that they don't have a cookbook.
This will make trying new recipes fun!!!
Then, since I had that in a medium flat-rate box from the Post Office, I decided to stuff it to the max.
Gotta get my money's worth, right?
Right!
In they went!
What else?
How about the dvds of some of my favorite movies?
Plus "Bruce Almighty" , of course, and "Peggy Sue Got Married" for some doowop fun!!!
I even threw in a musical, "Romance & Cigarettes", with Susan Sarandon paired with James Gandolfini - though maybe I should have cautioned her about the boys watching it.
No such warning label needed for "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas"... and it's another Jim Carrey film!
"Sabrina" is totally safe, too.
I don't regard the Griffin Dunne arthouse flick as questionable, but... it does have a string of women in various states of dress as the hapless fellow tries to make his way home one night.
There is even a bit of B&D in it, which might be hard to explain to two teenaged boys.
Right?
So, I swapped that out for the G-rated "Hillbillys In A Haunted House".
That's one I picked up from Christa's move out to Pooler, years ago, and which I've never watched...
but it looks to be funny and has some names of note from old horror films.
That will be fun, right?
Plus, it's a musical!
You know, now that I say that, I'm pretty sure I saw this on a Psychotronic Film night, once upon a time.
Very nice!
I'll look forward to talking to Bonnie about these once they've had a chance to see them!
(smile!)
Such a good day today!
i thank You, God!
