thanks, doug, for including me

For the first time ever, I was asked to take an active part in the ceremony at our monthly meeting of the Two Firsts Post of the American Legion.

You see, at every meeting, of every American Legion everywhere, there is a table set in memory of Prisoners of War and those Missing In Action.

Always.

And tonight, our leader asked me - me, the lone woman veteran there - if I would do the honor of placing the POW-MIA flag on the back of the chair.

Of course I said yes!

I didn't tell him that my stepdad had been a POW for almost two years during WWII.

I think I'll share that another time.
